YP Board Spotlight: Lincoln Jones
Lincoln Jones is one of the founding members of the Global Orphan Prevention Young Professionals (YP) Board, having been with us since April 2017.
The YP Board is comprised of talented individuals between the age 21-39 who help create more powerful impact within our Denver community, bring awareness to our mission, and help reach that coveted Millennial demographic.
As our Creative Marketing Co-Chair, Lincoln has helped drive Global Orphan Prevention’s social media influence while contributing insight for our fundraising events and marketing voice.
Lincoln’s positive and humorous disposition, along with his ability to bring people together while showing leadership has contributed to the success of our YP board this year. We wanted to sit down with Lincoln to find out what makes his tick.
My genuine nature and unique sense of humor.What do you see as your place or purpose in life? How did you come to that conclusion?
To make a positive impact in my community and enjoy the journey along the way.
What prompted you to get involved with Global Orphan Prevention and why is the orphan trade an important issue to you?
I heard about the cause through a friend and went to a meet & greet where the founder was speaking. After learning that 80% of children in orphan homes have living parents, it struck home with me. With a younger brother and sister both adopted from China and South Korea, I would do anything to protect them and make sure their future is as bright as possible. I had to know more and how I could help. The rest, is history, and I am so proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish so far, and how much we’ll be able to going forward.
What’s your favorite aspect about being on the Young Professionals Board? And what are your current duties?
The diversity of incredible talent and people I get to work with. I lead our Marketing team with Eric Sutfin and have the pleasure of working on different ways to present our mission, goals, values and accomplishments as a Global force for good.
If Global Orphan Prevention were to be on the cover of your favorite magazine in five years, what would the story be about?
I am a huge Denver Broncos fan. So if we were on the cover of ESPN with some team members working together that would make me smile.
What do you feel have been the important successes in your life? The frustrations?
Some of my frustrations have been successes in progress. Graduating from Fork Union Military Academy as Colorado State have been important successes that were full of frustrations along the way.
What would be your advice to younger generations about learning about causes, getting involved, and doing something about it?
It’s fun, and easy to do. Think about what is important to you, ask your friends and do a little research and just go for it. Believe me, I had no idea how I could help with such a huge cause like Global Orphan Prevention until I started working with our founder, Katie and realizing it was a lot easier and not as daunting as I had thought in the beginning.
