Kara Flynn is our Fundraising Co-Chairperson and Community Outreach liaison for the Global Orphan Prevention Associate Board. The Associate Board is comprised of talented individuals between the ages 21-45 who help create more powerful impact within our Denver community, bring awareness to our mission, and help reach that coveted Millennial demographic.
Lauren Castrogiovanni is a volunteer for Global Orphan Prevention and sat on the Auction Committee for our inaugural black-tie Passport 2 Freedom Gala. Lauren was instrumental in helping secure items for our silent auction, and helped run the auction during the event, including registration, setup, and checkout. She helped raise nearly $7,000 from just the silent auction alone, and helped us gross $113,646 from the gala.  
Tiffany Cheng sits on the Associate Board as our Marketing Chairperson for Global Orphan Prevention. By day, she's a delivery engineer for RingCentral and in her freetime, she's helping guide the marketing efforts at the charity; from the newsletter creation and social media initiatives, to managing a team of volunteers who help run the website and digital storytelling. We wanted to sit down with Tiffany to find out what makes her tick.
Dominick is the founder and CIO of IPS Strategic Capital and has served the investment community for over 35 years. He received his Certified Investment Management Analyst (CIMA®) through the Wharton School of Business and completed the College for Financial Planning’s CFP certification program. Currently, he is An Adjunct Professor at the University of Denver, he frequently lectures in Denver and internationally on the real-world use of derivatives in risk-defined money management.
Kimmy Yoosootrong is a talented Technical Project Manager and Volunteer at Global Orphan Prevention. She is the Catering & Vendor Relations Lead on our Gala Planning Committee for our Passport2Freedom Gala. She helps us with with her organizacional and leadership skills, and he incredible connections to the catering industry in Denver. We wanted to know more about Kimmy and she what drives her.
Shawna sits on our Associate Board of Global Orphan Prevention as the Secretary, and helps with the Program Committee developing our brand new Girls Empowerment Camp in Denver; which helps teen girls in the foster system help develop their mind, body, and soul. She loves building strategies and seeking solutions. She is a Director of Enrollment at Up with People and her specialties include relationship management, event planning, among others. We wanted to sit down with Shawna to find out what drives her.
Zach Bauer started his career working in IT for companies such as Yahoo!, Glassdoor, and Google before turning to entrepreneurship and creating a Vitamin IV company in Colorado called Drop Doctor Health; a venture that helps hydrate athletes, entertainers, physically ill, and party-goers. His current venture focuses on the start-up, International Tourism Resource Network (ITRN).
Richard M. Batenburg III (Rick) serves as a member of our Executive Board of Directors at Global Orphan Prevention, having joined us in December 2019. He is the co-founder of Cliintel Capital Management Group (CCMG), a venture firm focused on emerging markets in tech and consumer products, and more specifically cannabis.
Scott Brewer is member of the Executive Board of Directors at Global Orphan Prevention, having joined our team in December 2019. We hugely valuable to our organization. He is a connector, helping us with fundraising & event planning initiatives and sponsorship procurement, to strategic planning.
Phebe Standley is a marketing specialist by trade and runs her own pet service business called Phebe's Pet Walking & Sitting Services which was created to provide personalized service to your pet needs. She adds high value to organization through our Marketing Committee for the Passport2Freedom Gala 2020. Sara Kruid is the Regional Sales Manager of Acuity Brands. She is a talented professional and the Fundraising Chairperson on our Associate Board. I’m constantly looking for ways to make things easier for other people and am always asking “How can I help?”
GHYANGPHEDI, NEPAL -- What has been a four year dream in the making has finally come into fruition. We are happy to report that construction has finally begun on our Girls Empowerment Center & Dormitory in Ghyangphedi, in the Nuwakot District of Nepal.  After the devastating 2015 Nepal earthquakes, Global Orphan Prevention founder Katie Hilborn and her team stumbled upon a village with an inordinate number of "missing girls" while delivering disaster aid.
Our inaugural fundraising gala for Global Orphan Prevention was a smashing success! The number of high-level humans under one roof with a single purpose to create change was incredible. Thank you all so much for joining us on our journey. The energy and love about the room on Saturday night created such a buzz, and it's all because of you.
