Hello world, I’m Pratistha Devkota, 19, an aspiring aviator and a commercial pilot graduate. I’m a simple girl from humble beginnings who’s curious about trying new things and being exposed to multiple things like pageants, sports, scripting, singing, and many more. I’m also a former member of Nepal Peace Scouts and 1st Dan in Taekwondo. Born and brought up in Nepal, I have experienced a patriarchal society and the dim status of females in it beyond potential.
Global Orphan Prevention is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to preventing child abandonment and orphanage proliferation globally. The organization was established in 2011 and aims to ensure that every child grows up in a loving, safe, and nurturing family environment. The organization's approach focuses on providing families with the resources and support they need to care for their children.
Upon first arrival, I was bemused. The zig and zag of traffic in and out of dust filled lanes, the constant beep beeps, amazed there were zero accidents that I could see, just a cloud of dust floating over the barely paved narrow roadways. Trash scattered the streets and sidewalks, electric wires stretched between the buildings, resembling the way you'd expect a mouse to compose it's sprawling nest like clusters

Everyone assumes that, because I’m a photographer, when I travel I must have my camera strapped to me at all times, photographing everything. But that’s definitely, definitely not the case. Sometimes I just like to be present and experiencing things. Having a camera puts a distance between you and what’s happening around you.

GOP's sustainable development advisor, Eric Moffet has arrived to Nepal last week with urgent medical supplies he purchased while working in Africa. He flew directly from Uganda and is currently on the ground organizing a relief mission with local NGOs. Below is Eric's first blog from the field.
KATHMANDU, NEPAL -- After a devastating earthquake flattened Nepal last Saturday, followed by 47 (and counting) major aftershocks, the death toll has risen to 3400 casualties and is expected to climb to over 10,000. Children and loved ones are still lost under rubble while hospitals are overflowing with the wounded.
Lack of money should not be reason that little boys and girls have to stay home from school and work the fields. Or have to learn from outdated and inferior workbooks, or not know how to use a computer. Soon you will have the same access to education as other children your age," I optimistically stated.
